KODAK UV-CURABLE FILM & PAPER WINS ‘HOT ONE’ AWARD FROM USA PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY MAGAZINE - January 25, 2011
Sydney, January 25th 2011 – The prestigious American magazine Professional Photography, has awarded its coveted ‘Hot One’ Award to Kodak’s new UV-curable Display Film and Paper. Results will be published in March.

tor Starleaton Digital Solutions late in 2010, Kodak’s Professional UV-curable materials solve the problem of achieving critical photographic results on back and front-lit displays using wide-format UV inkjet instead of photo-chemical processes.
Starleaton Director Gary Smith says; “The backlit display market for highest quality results is still dominated by photosensitive films, including Kodak’s Endura, imaged on laser and LED machines such as the Lambda and Lightjet. This is because of the great resolution, colour saturation and durability. Until now, inkjet has failed to successfully challenge this market at the highest quality level. With the introduction of Kodak’s new Professional UV-curable products, combined with high-resolution UV inkjet printers, the results we are seeing are every bit as good, if not better.”
Smith also notes that some UV inkjet wide-format machines perform better than others; “To get the finest results from Kodak’s UV-curable Display Film, printers with 1200dpi resolution and fine droplet size are preferable. Also, multi-layer printing with white ink takes full advantage of the film, which employs the same Estar base found in Endura. Our tests were made on a Screen Truepress Jet 2500UV at up to 1500dpi so we can vouch for the results from this combination, although there may be others.”

Initially available in 1372mm x 100 metre rolls, Kodak’s UV-curable Display Film will also be introduced in 1016mm, 1575mm and 1842mm widths.
